PHEW... WHAT A NIGHT!

We'd like to thank everyone who joined us over the weekend! Your support was greatly appreciated, and with what seemed like most of Sydney turning up it made it a very special night for all of the Clarence family! It was also great to welcome back a lot of faces we haven't seen for a while.

We had some staff drop out at the last moment, and then got r-e-a-l-l-y busy, so your patience was greatly appreciated as were all the encouraging comments about the venue! We'll have even more of the bar completed this weekend, and by the time of the official opening in about 5 weeks it should all be in place. We look forward to sharing the re-creation of the spaces with you, and as always welcome any suggestions on what you'd like to see because, well, you're Clarence.

A HUGE thankyou (in no particular order) to Paul C, Jay, Mikey, Paul T, Robert, Martn, Darrin, Pearl, Elliott, Sam, Damon, Nick C & Pup, Nick S, Mark Alsop, Tim Blanshard, Justin Scott, Sandy Bottom, & Rob Davis for all their help in getting Manacle open (on Monday it was still an Irish Pub). These guys (most of them bar regulars & Manacle friends/family) worked their butts off during the week, and we couldn't have done it withour them.

  MANACLE parties since 2001 and the venue since 2003, MANACLE is back in its own section of The Clarence. The capacity is the same as it was at Taylor Square but it’s all in one room. Same iconic artwork, chain web, the cage and even some of the staff & DJs. Keep your eye on the web site www.manacle.com.au for information on theme nights, the regular Friday and Saturday nights, THURSDAY NIGHT LIVE, BENT - it’s not straight® and other day parties coming soon.

A Work In Progress
Some areas of the Hotel will be a work in progress over the next few months while some rearrangements are made and changes carried out. The whole Hotel was completely renovated about 4 years ago and so the bones are great it’s just the cosmetics that will change

Down the track a little and pending Development Applications…

• Above the one story section of the Hotel a smoking deck and B-B-Q area
• In the 2 story section in what was the residence there’s the possibility of specialized GLBT accommodation or a restaurant or another bar. That one is still so deep in the melting pot that we don’t even know the answer

Who is already in the area?
Mardi Gras - The offices or Mardi Gras are only 800 metres away
MCC - The Metropolitan Community Church is just 400 metres up Crystal St

Distances & Transport

• Central Station is just 4km and recently we drove from Central Station to The Clarence at Saturday lunchtime in just 7 minutes
• Circular Quay is 7km, Taylor Square 6KM, Darling Harbour 5KM and Newtown 3KM
• RAIL - Petersham Station is just 700metres away
• BUS - there are 3 major bus routes to the door, plus Nightride services providing bus transport to the door throughout the day & night
